Patch 14.00 Epic and Legendary

Patch 16.00 all variants

The Pistol (formerly "Semi-Auto Handgun"), as the name suggests, is a Pistol in Battle Royale. It has a headshot multiplier of 2.0x (deals 48, 50, 52, 56, 58 damage to the head), and is available in Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary variants.

The Rare variant was vaulted in Patch 5.40, but it was unvaulted in Chapter 2 Season 1, along with the introduction of the Epic and Legendary variants.

All of the Pistol's variants can be found from Floor Loot. The Uncommon - Legendary variants can be found from chests. The Rare variant can be found from fishing and it's Epic and Legendary variants can be found from Supply Drops, Rare Chests and Fishing.

On Patch 12.10, the Common, Uncommon and Rare Pistol received a new equip, fire, pickup and drop sounds. Nothing else was changed.

The Pistol has been quite popular from Patch 13.00 due to Assault Rifle headshot nerfs. The Rare Pistol does the same headshot damage as an Epic Assault Rifle. The Legendary Pistol does more headshot damage than the Epic Legendary and Mythic Assault Rifles.

On Patch 14.00, the Epic and Legendary variants have been vaulted, replaced by the Epic and Legendary Revolver.

On Patch 15.00 the Epic and Legendary Pistol had been unvaulted replacing the Revolver.

All variants of the Pistol have been vaulted with Patch 16.00 (also the first time the Common and Uncommon variants are being vaulted). It was replaced by the Revolver and the new Primal Pistol.

If you are in a boxfight, use the pistol, mainly Epic and Legendary as it is an extremely fast kill if you hit all 4 headshots.

Strategy[]

  • The button must be un-pressed and re-pressed to fire each shot. Simply holding down the button will not work.
  • The Legendary variant can 4 shot at 100 health, however can 7 shot someone at 200 health meaning it can kill at the rate of an Assault Class (Battle Royale).
  • The pistol is tied with the Rapid Fire SMG and Boom Bow (Battle Royale) for the fastest reload speed in the game at 1.3 seconds which means you can not only delete someones entire career in not even half a mag, but also reload and immediately shoot again in rapid succession making this an underrated gun.
  • The Pistol is typically a starting weapon. It has overall bad stats compared to other weapons and the Common and Uncommon variants should be swapped out as soon as possible.
  • The Common Pistol takes five shots to take out a non-shielded opponent, while all other variants take 4 shots. It is a good weapon to use in combination with a Shotgun on early game.
  • Despite its stats suggesting otherwise, it is perfectly viable as a tool to take out materials quickly with its fast fire rate.
  • The Pistol suffers from poor damage and accuracy at range. Unlike the Suppressed Pistol, it is loud and will notify everyone to your location when you fire it.
    • The Uncommon Pistol in fact does enough damage to take out an enemy in four shots, just like its suppressed counterpart. If you are willing to lose the suppressor, it can be used as an alternative to the now vaulted Suppressed Pistol.
  • The Suppressed SMG does slighty lower damage, but fires faster, is more accurate, and is suppressed. The only thing it does worse is damage at a distance. It is wise to consider any rarity of Suppressed Submachine Gun a direct upgrade over the Common and Uncommon Pistols.
    • The Compact SMG/Epic and Legendary Submachine Gun, while doing less damage, being less accurate, and not suppressed, takes the same amount of bullets to eliminate someone as a Common Pistol does, fires faster than the Suppressed Submachine Gun, and has a large magazine. If found, in a mode where it is available, it should be considered a direct upgrade over the Common and Uncommon Pistol.
  • The Uncommon Pistol takes one less shot to eliminate an enemy than a Suppressed SMG or Compact SMG. If you are willing to lose the fire rate and accuracy of a submachine gun for the elevated damage of the Uncommon Pistol, it is worth keeping.

Trivia[]

  • The Pistol bears a strong resemblance to the Beretta M9, and also bears some resemblance to the M1911, a real-life semi-automatic pistol. Additionally, the Epic and Legendary versions resemble an STI Combat Master 2011.
  • The lower rarities of the Pistol used the same model as the Semi-Auto Handgun in Save the World before Chapter 2.
    • Also, before the initial release of Battle Royale, the Pistol was called the "Semi-Auto Handgun".
  • The reason why the Pistol is the one of the worst guns is because it has significant damage drop-off, it doesn't fire automatically(making it the highest fire rate gun that isn’t automatic), has a hard recoil and a low DPS compared to other weapons that have around 7 fire rate. However, The Epic and Legendary variants are much better, with more accuracy, less recoil, and maybe even less extreme damage dropoff, it can compare to a Common Assault Rifle since they have a faster firerate, reloading and similar damage.
    • If it compared to Tactical Assault Rifle, which has around same DPS like Pistol, the Tactical Assault Rifle has a much higher magazine and range compared to the Pistol.
  • This is the second pistol to be available in all five rarities, the first being the Revolver.
  • This is one of the two weapons to never have had every rarity vaulted(only the Rare, Epic and Legendary was), the other is the Assault Rifle.
  • The Pistols does more damage to the head than the Assault Rifles and Burst Assault Rifles. Ocean's Burst Assault Rifle does the same headshot damage of the Legendary Pistol.
