Vaulted Patch 6.00

Light Machine Gun is an Assault Rifle in Battle Royale. It was available in Rare and Epic variants. It uses Medium Bullets.

The Light Machine Gun was Vaulted in Patch 6.00, therefore making it available only in Creative. The Light Machine Gun would tear down structures extremely fast, including metal walls.

The weapon was an Assault Rifle during Season 3 and 4, but was changed to no classification in Seasons 5-7. After a while, the community though this weapon was actually an SMG or a Machine Gun like the Minigun. However, on the initial patch of Season 8, the Light Machine Gun was finally classified as an Assault Rifle.

The LMG was unvaulted for 24 hours on June 25th, 2019 for the 14 Days of Summer event. This was the first item to be unvaulted for the event.

Strategy[edit | edit source]

  • The high capacity of 100 bullets in a single magazine and a high rate of fire makes the Light Machine Gun favorable at close ranges. The effectiveness of the gun decreases when used at medium ranges as the recoil during continuous fire hurts its accuracy, so short bursts of fire are recommended. At further distances, accuracy becomes poor.
  • It is good to have a backup weapon, as the Light Machine Gun possesses a lengthy reload time - 5 and 4.75 seconds for the Rare and Epic variants, respectively.
  • The Light Machine Gun is very effective at destroying weak defenses or walls that are immediately placed by another player, as they will not have enough time to fully build.
  • During Duo or Squad matches, the Light Machine Gun can be used to suppress a target while your teammates flank them, or by assisting someone who is in a hurry.
  • The Light Machine Gun is a very noisy weapon - if you are not careful with your aim, you may expose your position to enemies while using it.
  • The Light Machine Gun has the same speed as the Drum Gun (since Content Update 9.30) and more damage meaning you could eliminate a player with an LMG while the other player has a Drum Gun.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Light Machine Gun is inspired by the FN Herstal Minimi LMG, designated in the U.S. Army as the M249 LMG.
  • The Epic Light Machine Gun outclasses the Legendary Assault Rifle in DPS by 10 points (208 DPS to 198 DPS), but loses in damage per bullet by 10 points (26 damage to 36 damage) and is less accurate.
  • The Light Machine Gun is technically an Assault Rifle. This is because the gun used Medium Bullets and it looked like an Assault Rifle. Many players were confused if it was an SMG, but Season 8 fully categorized the weapon as an Assault Rifle.
    • It sounds reasonable because the LMG Rifle in Save the World is also an Assault Rifle.
