Patch 15.0 all variants

The Burst Assault Rifle is an Assault Rifle in Battle Royale. It has a headshot multiplier of x1.5 (dealing 46/48/51/54/55/58, formerly x2 before Patch 13.00) and usesMedium Bullets.png Medium Bullets. It is available in Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic & Legendary and Mythic

All variants of the Burst Assault Rifle can be found from Floor Loot, Uncommon to Legendary variants from chests. The Rare variant can be found from Fishing and the Epic and Legendary variants from Supply Drops, Rare Chests and Fishing as well.

The weapon was introduced with the name "Semi-Auto Rifle", which was later changed to "Assault Rifle (Burst)", and later changed to Burst Assault Rifle, which it has been named ever since.

The Burst Assault Rifle's Common, Uncommon and Rare variants were first vaulted in 7.10 Content Update #3, then the Epic and Legendary variants in Patch 7.30.

The Burst Assault Rifle was Vaulted due to the weapon being relatively useless due to the existence of other various assault rifles, players rarely using the weapon, and to clear space for the Infantry Rifle.

All 5 rarities were unvaulted in the initial release of Chapter 2, Season 1. With some changes, The original Epic and Legendary Burst, (The Famas, as it was known) was now, Common, Uncommon, and Rare. And the Epic and Legendary Bursts, were made to resemble an “AUG” type weapon. The firerates of the Burst ARs also was buffed to 4.91 in the same patch. As of Patch 13.00 the Burst Assault Rifles fires two rounds rather than three and is available in Mythic form. Its magazine size was also decreased to 20 (except for the Mythic variant) and its damage was increased to 31/32/34/36/37, depending on rarity.

In Patch 13.20, the Mythic Ocean's Burst Assault Rifle's damage and structure damage was increased from 37 to 39, the reload time was decreased to 2.2, and it has slightly less recoil.

The Mythic Ocean's Burst Assault Rifle was vaulted with the initial release of Chapter 2 Season 4. However, Ocean's Burst Assault Rifle remains available on macOS and iOS devices as Apple users are currently stuck on Patch 13.40.

All of the remaining variants of the Burst Assault Rifle have been vaulted with Patch 15.00, replaced with the Tactical Assault Rifle and Heavy Assault Rifle. Thus making the weapon exclusive to Creative, but is still remained unvaulted along with it's Mythic variant on iOS and macOS since those devices are stuck on Patch 13.40.

Pros and Cons[edit | edit source]

Pros Cons
It has higher damage than the Assault Rifle. Although damage is good compared to the normal Assault Rifle, it is burst-fire so it cannot be sprayed like an Assault Rifle. As in, while it does in bursts 62/64/68/72/74, it only shoots around 1.63 bullets a second in that regards.
Dealing with the fire rate, the weapon has a somewhat great accuracy, especially the epic and legendary variants. At very long range, it has a higher chance of missing the second shot of the burst. Stick to mid- and close-range for the best accuracy.
Waiting for the crosshair to go to FSA will provide a great deal of accuracy. While it's not too long, the reload time is longer than the assault rifle's reload.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The Common, Uncommon, and Rare Burst Assault Rifles used a similar model as the Save the World Lynx, the other two variants are not based off of any StW item.
  • The fact that Fortnite’s AUG is 2-round burst is inaccurate. In real life, the AUG never had this feature.
  • Though officially called the "Burst Assault Rifle", it was commonly called the 'Burst', 'Triple Burst', '3 Burst AR' or 'Burst AR'. The Common, Uncommon and Rare variants are often called the FAMAS due to their similarity to the real life FAMAS F1 assault rifle. The Epic and Legendary variants are often called AUG due to the design being based off of the real life AUG A3.
  • Curiously enough, the Common through Rare rarities were originally conceived to be added into the game not as a FAMAS, but rather a G36C (or Gewehr Sechs-und-Dreissig Compact in German) short-barrel rifle. However, the idea got cut before making it into the final game.
  • The Common through Rare Burst Rifles are actually not good in terms of accuracy, but strangely the last two rarities are built with true precision. When completely still and aiming down sights, the Epic and Legendary will ALWAYS have first shot accuracy per shot (it only does the first shot per trigger but it repeats).
  • However, as of Patch 13.00, the Common to Rare variants have better accuracy.
  • In Patch 11.00, the Burst AR got unvaulted, but the original Common, Uncommon and Rare model were replaced by the FAMAS design, which was previously for the Epic and Legendary variants.
  • The AUG is the second weapon to not use the built-in scope. The Tactical Assault Rifle was and is the first weapon with the unused scope.
  • Since the new chapter, the Burst has gotten a complete overhaul in terms of the first shot accuracy. There is debate whether this weapon could outmatch a player with an Assault Rifle. The Epic and Legendary Burst have a compact accuracy and maintain a first shot accuracy while standing still. However, the Epic and Legendary Assault Rifles have fire rate. If a players wants a weapon that compliments their accuracy, but still has some suppressive power, then the AUG is a better choice. If one wants a more versatile weapon that can be used up close and from a range, the SCAR might be better. However, some might take both with the AUG used as a long range alternative and the SCAR used as your main weapon.
  • After the Burst got it's damage buffed in Chapter 2, Season 3, it now has higher damage than the normal AR. For the Rare, this means the Burst can kill a player with no shields in 3 shots (2 bursts) while the normal AR takes 4. The drawback to this approach is that there's a gap between the second and third shot, so remember to aim for the head.
  • This is the 3rd weapon to have all 6 rarities, it was also the 2nd to have Common up to Legendary rarities (back in May of 2018). It is the 8th Mythic weapon in Battle Royale (Not including LTM Mythic weapons).
  • This is the first weapon and the second item (after the Grenade) that didn't get vaulted for over a year after it's unvaulting.

" It eventually got vaulted in Season 5 however.
