Strategy

  • The Assault Rifle is a solid choice for every player's arsenal, as it has good damage and great range, allowing for ideal performance in mid-range engagements.
  • Along longer sightlines, firing in bursts or tap-firing single shots can improve your overall effectiveness, as consistent fire can make the weapon's degree of spread severe, especially when paired with strafing. Crouching can up performance in situations that warrant sustained automatic fire.
  • The Assault Rifle can function acceptably at close range thanks to its noteworthy blend of damage, fire rate, and ease of use, though it does not possess the sheer burst damage potential of a Shotgun or Revolver, and lacks the raw DPS of an SMG or Minigun. Its hipfire accuracy is also slightly below average in comparison to the other weapons, perhaps with the exceptions of the Double Barrel Shotgun and Drum Shotgun.
  • The Epic, Legendary and Mythic variants of the Assault Rifle are capable of eliminating an opponent in one less bullet than the lower tier versions, whether unshielded or with full Shield. The Rare variant and higher shaves off a single shot less from the kill requirement within its reach on targets with 125 HP total (as is common with the 75 HP limit of Bandages and the 50 Shield limit of Small Shield Potions) or full health and a Small Shield Potion, and the Epic rarity and higher removes a shot to eliminate on targets with 175 HP total.
  • The Assault Rifle is one of the best bullet weapons for destroying enemy builds. Not only is its generous 30-round magazine ideal for sustained fire, allowing 5.28 seconds of pumping lead down range, its damage to structures remains static at all ranges. Every rarity can take out a wood wall in just five shots, and, depending on the rarity, other structures and edits may take even less.
  • It is not wise to challenge players wielding Sniper Rifles, as they can instantly eliminate you in a single well-placed shot while you're attempting to whittle away at their health one shot at a time. Instead, place some structures between you and them and attempt to get closer with a few ramps.

Trivia

  • The Common, Uncommon, and Rare rarities of the Assault Rifle are based on a standard AR-15 platform rifle (likely an M4A1 Carbine), and the Epic, Legendary, and Mythic rarities of the Assault Rifle are based on the FN SCAR-L assault rifle.
  • Prior to v11.00, the front sight on the Common, Uncommon, and Rare rarities of the Assault Rifle was fitted on the barrel backwards.
  • It was the first weapon to be available all 5 standard rarities, and also the first weapon to have appearances dependent on rarity.
    • Along with the Heavy Assault Rifle, it is the first weapon to have all 6 obtainable rarities.
      • Having the Mythic variant was proposed as early as December 2017, but with 39 damage and with a 2.5 times multiplier, but only 5.5 shots per second.
  • It is one of the three weapons in Battle Royale that can be found in all 6 rarities, having a Common through Legendary plus Mythic variant. The other weapons are the Heavy Assault Rifle and the Burst Assault Rifle.
    • Coincidentally, these weapons are all in the Assault class.
    • The Assault Rifle is the only weapon from the original release of Battle Royale (Patch 1.6) that has none of its normal (Not including the Mythic variant) rarities ever vaulted.
    • It deals less damage than the Burst AR by 1, so the Rare Burst AR can eliminate in 3 shots against a player with 100 HP, and in 6 shots against a player with 200 HP, but the Rare AR can't.
    • This is the first gun to have both 5 and 6 variants.[2]
